About Sheila Lemons

My oil paintings are works that emphasize my interest in color and design. My ideas usually come from sketches, drawings and photographs I have taken during my travels. Sometimes they come from extremely detailed and vivid dreams. I like to work with a combination of my own version of color theory and abstraction, and am fascinated by the patterns and textures I see in nature. Visual Art to me is where life meets mind and eye head-on and I am overtaken by an abstract impulse. Always I strive for Beauty and I love the feeling of being completely immersed in the creative process. Each image is a path which I hope takes the viewer in new directions.

"The animation of the Beautiful is so immediate and fulfilling that we simply enjoy it for itself; it never occurs to us to ask what purpose it serves. Our joy in the Beautiful is as native to us as our breath, a lyrical act where we surrender, but to awaken."

John O’Donohue, Beauty
